Guqin Music and Tai Ji Men Qigong: Celebrating Cultural Heritage and Personal Growth

(October 1, 2024 – Walnut & Pasadena, CA) Zheng Pei, a skilled guqin player, has spent the past six years mastering this ancient Chinese instrument. During recent cultural events at Tai Ji Men’s Walnut and Pasadena Academies, she shared her deep knowledge of the guqin, an essential element of literati music, known for its soft, subtle sound and intimate settings.

Her connection with the guqin deepened after joining Tai Ji Men, and she credits Tai Ji Men Qigong with enhancing her guqin performance, improving her health, and allowing her to maintain the breath control necessary for longer pieces.

Zheng Pei also emphasized that in guqin music, all songs are considered equal, regardless of length, with the focus on conveying the spirit behind the music. This philosophy aligns with Tai Ji Men’s culture, which values inclusivity and equality, transcending gender, race, ethnic origin, and religious preferences.

She also shared how Tai Ji Men Qigong relieved her persistent skin itching, eliminating the need for medication, and noted the profound impact of the Tai Ji Men community. Their support has made her feel happier and more fulfilled.

Zheng Pei concluded her presentation by performing the first guqin piece she ever learned, illustrating how her journey with the instrument and Tai Ji Men has enriched her life through a blend of tradition, wellness, and community.

Within weeks, she regained full mobility in her arm and improved her neck condition, experiencing better sleep and increased energy. Her journey underscores how Tai Ji Men Qigong has helped her achieve balance and well-being, which she now shares with her family.
