ThinkOrbital is proud to propose the first milestone in the development of in-space manufacturing at scale. ThinkOrbital, the leader in ISAM&C technologies, having flown the first robotically controlled in-space welding in May of ’24, is the ideal team to lay the groundwork for ISAM&C of a scale currently relegated to science fiction. Future human expansion into space will require bigger and more capable spacecraft than could ever feasibly be launched from Earth, to achieve this, shipyards in space are not only practical, they’re required. ThinkOrbital will perform a study to identify the challenges associated with fabricating a shipyard in space using technologies and assets available today. Building on their ISAM&C technology and their expertise in the field, ThinkOrbital will develop CONOPS, preliminary designs, and a cost analysis of deploying a shipyard to low Earth orbit.
