On May 19, the UK and the EU reached a landmark agreement aimed at resetting their post-Brexit relationship. The accord was finalized during the UK-EU Summit held in London and is expected to ease travel and employment restrictions for hundreds of millions of people across Europe.
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, and European Council President Antonio Costa were present at the summit.
Prime Minister Starmer declared, “Britain is back on the world stage,” during a statement to the House of Commons as he outlined the benefits of the agreements reached with the European Union on May 18. As part of the new deal, EU trawlers will retain fishing rights in UK waters until 2038
