The 2010-2011 Queensland Floods marked one of the worst moments in the history of Brisbane, Australia, for many areas were devastated by torrent rainfalls and heavy flooding about 10 years ago.

During the La Nina season beginning in November 2010 to January 2011, the prolonged heavy rainfall over Queensland had endangered at least 97 communities and evacuated over 200,000 people. Authorities estimated damage at nearly US$2.4 billion. The floods devastated many cities and towns, including Toowoomba, Ipswich, and Brisbane. In particular, Brisbane was inundated as the Brisbane River and the Wivenhoe Dam rose rapidly amid a series of heavy rainfalls.

Even today, residents in Queensland are still recalling dreadful memory of the 2010-2011 flooding event. The Bureau of Meteorology predicts that the 2010-2011 Queensland Floods can take place each year under the weather pattern of a La Nina. Weather experts warn the threat of a similar scale to the 2010-2011 Queensland Floods is deemed inevitable.
