Despite Amazon's efforts to sabotage the union, warehouse workers in Staten Island, New York, narrowly won the election on April 1 by 500 votes. It creates the first Amazon Labor Union (ALU) in the United States.

Amazon employs about 6,000 warehouse workers on Staten Island, handling 2.4 million shipments per day in New York City. Warehouse workers often suffer from muscle and bone injuries due to repetitive lifting and bending movements, and low wages often require them to take on additional jobs to make ends meet.

According to statistics, the long working hours and high labor intensity of this job make it difficult to retain employees. The turnover rate of Amazon hourly workers is over 150%. After the Amazon union is formed, it will fight for higher wages, increased benefits, and paid leave for extreme weather events.
