South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol was detained for interrogation on January 15. Police are looking into possible wrongdoing on the part of high-ranking officials through the Corruption Investigation Office.
In the heart of Seoul, 3,000 police officers barged into Yoon's home. The stunning arrest of Yoon ends a standoff between investigators and his presidential security detail that lasted for weeks. A failed martial law order on December 3, 2024, has led to Yoon's (64 years old) investigation on insurgency charges.
According to the CIO (Corruption Investigation Office for High-Ranking Officials), Yoon has been uncooperative with investigators, not answering their queries or providing any responses.
