As European homes prepare for a cold winter, sales of Chinese-made electric blankets, electric heaters, and other heating products have skyrocketed this year. According to an Alibaba.com survey, demand for electric heating appliances increased by 40% in the last 90 days. Demand for electric blankets increased by 50%, demand for electric heaters increased by 70%, and demand for pump water heaters increased by 100%. These patterns are significant because they highlight the gravity of the current crisis.
The Russian invasion of Ukraine in early 2022 sparked a conflict between the two countries. The global consequences of Russia's economic sanctions have already been noted. Because Russia is a major global producer of natural gas and other fossil fuels, many countries that previously relied on Russian energy companies are now experiencing rising energy prices and energy shortages as a result of the sanctions. Both within and outside of the European Union, the current energy crisis is visible.
According to new data from the Household Energy Price Index, a study conducted across Europe found that household energy bills in Europe increased by 90% in the previous year, with some cities experiencing increases of up to 111%.
This winter, millions of people are saving money on their energy bills by using a cost-effective electrical appliance. Fire experts, on the other hand, warn homeowners about the dangers of using electric heaters. People must use them with caution.
