A report by meteorologist Scott Sutherland entitled "Temperatures in 2023 could be record breaking with rapidly developing El Nino" summarized his findings. The study was released on April 24 on The Weather Network's news.

The warmest March on record, from 1850 to 2023, occurred in 2016. According to National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), the Japanese Meteorological Agency, and the EU's Copernicus Climate Change Service, March 2023 is the second hottest March ever recorded for the entire world.

According to NOAA's Climate Prediction Center's EL NIÑO/SOUTHERN OSCILLATION (ENSO) Diagnostic Discussion on April 13, El Niño conditions are 62% likely to develop by the end of July. That possibility has climbed to around 75% by the end of August. Furthermore, likelihood forecasts for the remaining part of the year 2023 are expected to be higher than 80%.

Global temperatures might potentially surpass all previous years by the end of December 2023, according to NOAA. According to historical tendency, particularly in 2015 and 2016, next year is probably going to be considerably hotter.
