Former President Jimmy Carter Dies at Age 100

On December 29, former US President Jimmy Carter, a Nobel Peace Prize laureate, died at the age of 100 at his home in Plains, Georgia. President Carter was a 

humanitarian who spent his life supporting peace, democracy, and human rights. 

 

Carter is described by US President Joe Biden as "a man of principle, faith, and 

humility". Meanwhile, President-Elect Donald Trump believes that Americans owe Carter a "debt of gratitude". 

 

UN Secretary-General António Guterres conveyed his deepest condolences on the passing of former US President Jimmy Carter. "President Carter's commitment to 

international peace and human rights also found full expression after he left the 

presidency," according to the United Nations leader.
