Hou Kuan-Jen’s Eight Major Legal Violations

2023/2/17

In 2002, the Control Yuan investigated and discovered that Hou Kuan-Jen's investigation of the Tai-Ji Men case involved eight major violations of law, and that the indictment and evidence were contradictory and inconsistent with evidence law.  Control Yuan then demanded that the Ministry of Justice severely punish Hou Kuan-Jen for his failure to perform his duties.  The Ministry of Justice refused to carry out its punishment right away, instead waiting for the Tai Ji Men criminal third-instance judgment to be determined, even though there was no fraud or no tax evasion.  The Ministry of Justice then said that the sentence had run its course after more than ten years and that prosecutor Hou Kuan-Jen could not be punished. Officials protect each other, and the good people are protected by none.
