According to the latest news from Manila Bulletin, the Philippine House of Representatives passed 19 bills on January 17. The 19 bills include two bills of human and religious rights of citizens which they are all agreed.

House Bill 10576 defines the features of human rights defenders, their rights and fundamental freedoms. It requested government to accept all citizens’ human rights and their basic rights.  The court would impose violators a jail sentence of no less than six years or/and 100,000 pesos (around US$2,000) penalty.

House Bill 10569 demands government to promise and protect every citizen’s basic rights to his or her religion and beliefs. Violations are punishable by six to eight years in prison and a fine of no more than two million pesos, which is about US$39,000.
