The Holy See Press Office announced on February 18 evening that Pope Francis has double pneumonia. Laboratory testing, chest X-rays, and the Holy Father's clinical condition all reveal a complex picture.
The 88-year-old pontiff has had a respiratory infection for over a week. The Pope was hospitalized at Rome's Gemelli Hospital on February 14.
On February 17, the Vatican announced that Francis suffered a polymicrobial infection of his respiratory tract. Nonetheless, the Press Office said that Pope Francis is in good spirits.
