Spain's Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez declared an investigation upon sexual harassment within Roman Catholic clergy. The Spanish parliament also approved the sweeping probe since it hasn’t been done for years.

El País newspaper shows clerical harassment of the Spanish Catholic church. 251 priests and 1200 related people are involved in possible harassment.

In the past 20 years, Spanish Catholic church has admitted more than 200 abuse claims. They declared to deal with accusations by the inner system. However, they consistently refused to set up an independent commission regarding this issue.

Since over 75% Spanish are Catholic, Catholicism has been indispensable in Spanish culture and nation. That may be one of the reasons that Spain was facing refusal from Catholic church for pedophile accusations.
