On March 9, the Trump administration implements mass layoffs at the Department of Education. The US Department of Education started massive layoffs, slashing its workforce by nearly half.

The department announced that it would reduce nearly half of its workers. According to the announcement, the affected employees will be placed on administrative leave beginning March 21.Linda McMahon, Secretary of Education, stated the workforce reduction demonstrates the Department of Education's dedication to efficiency,accountability, and prioritizing resources where they are most needed—students, parents, and teachers.
