The aim of this summer school is to provide an expository overview of the emerging field of astrostatistics in the landscape of Big Data. The tentative lecture topics include (but are not limited to) fundamentals of statistics, image processing, time series analysis, machine learning methods, and visualization as applied to current and future surveys (e.g., Gaia, HSC, Pan-STARRS, DES, Kepler/K2, LSST, TAOS II, SKA). Due to resource constraints, the participants are limited to 50 graduate or advanced undergraduate students from within Taiwan and internationally.
Local lodging will be provided to up to 40 students with priorities given to graduate students.
