Wildfires caused by agricultural operations happened in Indonesia every year. Recently, a post form social media of the red sky raised the attention. Because of the forest fires, the haze covered the sky and made it red in the Jambi province. The reporter of the red sky, Zuni Shofi Yatun Nisa, pointed that people do not want smoked sky but clean air.

According to Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service, the emissions of greenhouse gases this time are approximately the same as the emissions of 2015 Indonesia’s fire season. The poor air quality in Kalimantan even forced the authority to close the school. Neighboring countries, such as Malaysia, Singapore and the Philippines are affected as well.

The phenomenon of red smoke is due to the different size of bountiful particles scattering the lights, said by the professor of Singapore University of Social Sciences. He pointed that it would not change the air temperature. On the other hand, the exhaust from fires would not only cause the air pollution, but also influence human’s health, raising the potential of heart disease or asthma attacks.
