On February 18, hip-hop artist A$AP Rocky, real name Rakim Mayers, was acquitted of felony assault charges. His alleged shooting at a former friend and music collaborator in Hollywood in 2021 is the subject of this case.

Terell Ephron, A$AP Relli's legal name, was once a close friend. Mayers and Ephron were both members of the Harlem-based rap group A$AP Mob and were childhood friends. Ephron claimed that Mayers had opened fire on him during an altercation in 2021 in the middle of a Hollywood street. Three weeks of testimony detailing the bitter breakup of childhood friends were presented to jurors in Los Angeles.

Mayers reacted in court as the verdict was given in his felony assault trial at the Clara Shortridge Foltz Criminal Justice Center in Los Angeles on February 18. The rapper hurried to embrace his lover pop singer Rihanna in the courtroom as cheers erupted after the verdict was read.
