On March 19, U.S. District Judge Beryl Howell ruled that the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) can continue to operate at the United States Institute of Peace. Fired employees filed a restraining order to remove DOGE.
On March 19, the United States Institute for Peace requested a temporary restraining order (TRO). DOGE allegedly physically trespassed on the Institute's Constitution Avenue premises and occupied it forcibly.
Congress established the United States Investment Partnership in 1984. On March 18, Ambassador John Sullivan, Judy Ansley, Joseph Falk, Kerry Kennedy, and Mary Swig, five of the expelled board members, filed a lawsuit to challenge their removal. They claimed that DOGE unlawfully attacked the Institute of Peace. However, in March, Judge Beryl Howell moved to reject the USIP's request for a TRO.
