Public Invited to Join the Next NASA Virtual Getting to Know Goddard Session

8 Jun 2021

The public is encouraged to join a new virtual speaker series called “Getting to Know Goddard” and learn what happens at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland. “Innovation for Exploration” is the title of the next virtual session on Thursday, June 17, 2021, from 1 to 2 p.m. EDT.  It features experts from NASA Goddard who will explain a mission life cycle. And will also share how NASA develops technologies to enable cutting-edge scientific discoveries.

At Goddard, the life cycle of a project or mission begins and ends with science. We start with the big science questions we want answered, determine what technology is needed to accomplish our objectives and gather the most innovative minds to transform ideas into reality. However, the more we explore, the more innovation and technological advancements are needed to unlock the secrets of our universe and answer the next big science question that awaits us. Goddard experts will discuss these processes and more.

 Speakers:

·       Dr. Joanne “Joe” Hill-Kittle, Deputy Director of Engineering and Technology

·       Julie Crooke, Deputy Chief Technologist

·       Christy Hansen, Flight Projects Directorate Chief of Staff

·       Nidhin Babu, Deputy Project Manager, Laser Communications Relay Demonstration (LCRD)

The session will be broadcast and available for free to the public at: https://video.ibm.com/channel/nasa-gsfc
