On October 20 the World Economic Forum (WEF) published a report which forecast technologies in robotics and artificial intelligence would lead to an overall job addition over the next 5 years. Besides, WEF warned that the COVID-19 pandemic would cause double disruption for workers. Mainly the report implied double disruption as accelerating automation and the decline from the COVID-19 recession.

In “The Future of Jobs” report, researched over 300 biggest companies with 8 million employees around the world, WEF considered the impact of pandemic-related disruptions, analyzed the jobs and skills of the next 5 years, and kept track of the pace of job change.

According to the report “The Future of Jobs Report 2020”, WEB said that the rise of machines and automation would eliminate more than 85 million jobs by 2025. In the meantime, the WEF estimates about 97 million new jobs would be created. Thus, WEB forecast a net increase of 12 million jobs worldwide by 2025.

The WEB indicated manual or routine jobs would likely be affected, the lowest paid and the least skilled workers the most, by the robot revolution in artificial intelligence and machine learning.
