In honor of National Small Business Week, NASA's center in Silicon Valley will host a media availability on Wednesday, May 6, in the NASA Research Park in Moffett Field, California. The event will highlight Made In Space, Inc., a small space manufacturing company that worked with NASA to design, build and test the first 3-D printer used in space, with a visit from a NASA official leading small business-related efforts for the agency. Replicas of objects printed on the International Space Station will be available for the media to view.

Founded in 2010 with the goal of enabling humanity's future in space, Made In Space has developed additive manufacturing technology for use in the space environment. By manufacturing space assets in space, as opposed to launching them from Earth, the company plans to accelerate and broaden space development while also providing access for people on Earth to use in-space capabilities. Made in Space received a number of NASA Small Business Innovative Research awards.

Glenn Delgado, NASA's associate administrator of the Office of Small Business Programs in Washington, will be available to speak to media while visiting Made In Space, Inc. at their headquarters in the NASA Research Park at NASA's Ames Research Center, Moffett Field, California. As the associate administrator, Delgado provides executive leadership and policy direction for developing and implementing policies and initiatives throughout NASA to ensure that all categories of small businesses are afforded opportunities to compete for agency contracts.

The NASA Research Park is a world-class, shared-use research and development and education campus for industry, academia, non-profits and government. Ames creates strategic partnerships both to commercialize NASA technologies and to infuse NASA with new technologies from the external community.
