In an Instagram post on January 8, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced to step back from their duties as senior members of the British royal family. The couple, currently residing at Frogmore Cottage in Windsor, shared their intention to move toward financial independence.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, also officially entitled as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, had born a baby boy, Archie, in May 2019. Prince Harry is ranked No. 6 to the royal throne succeeding after his father, Charles; his brother, William; and William's 3 children.
The speculation grew over the couple’s decision to step back as senior royals were not given advance notice to other members of the royal family. As Prince Harry and Meghan Markle posted, the couple chose 2020 to make a transition in starting to carve out a progressive new role as senior' members of the Royal Family. In the meantime, the couple will work to become financially independent and continue to fully support Her Majesty the Queen.
